The Corwid of the Free are beings who live in the forests of Zenozoik. They are colloquially addressed as Corwids by civilians of Halstedom. Ghat was one of the Corwids for around a month. Most of them are insane, but that does not make them bad fighters. They avoid civilization because they are not slaves of their needs. The Corwid believe in an idiosyncratic philosophy of self-expression called the Focus: each individual Corwid would pursue a singular interest at all costs, even if it may threaten their well-being. In the rare moments where Corwid do not satisfy their obsessions, they wander aimlessly or frolic gleefully together. All members wear the bare minimum of clothing as well as special masks that symbolize their induction into the fold. Despite their obvious mental instability, most are not usually hostile to outsiders unless their Focus is in danger of being interrupted or if the Focus in question requires them to harm others. It is telling that even in a culture so bizarre and backwards as Zenozoik, the Corwid stand out as unpredictable outsiders.
